Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant will release his new album, lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar, on September 9, and we have a sneak peek!
In a new video preview, exclusively premiered at Amazon Music, Plant describes the personal journey that led to his new 11-track album, his first since 2010’s Band of Joy. We join Plant as he rediscovers the pastoral English countryside. He discusses his recent travels throughout the American south, tracing the roots of blues music, and his eventual return home.
"I’ve been away a long time from these borders," he says. "I spent a lot of time traveling through the south. I was searching to see if I could find out the character of the area from the radio that was on in the car. So I wrote the lyrics against an amazing link to those days, back in the 1930s and ’40s, when the south was the center of the black revolution in music, before the Great Migration up to Chicago."
Meanwhile, tracks from the new album play in the background, providing an exclusive preview into the kaleidoscopic and percussive Ceaseless Roar.
Plant's overseas journeys and eventual return home play a large role on the album. “To come back to the Welsh borders, to the hills and the valleys and friends and confidants, is something I didn't even imagine when I was out there in Mississippi and Texas. These songs are an ode to life and love, and the fragile adventure you set out upon unknowingly and unwittingly.”
